Janus Security Services – CCTV Division: Terms & Conditions


Agreement between you (‘the customer’) and Janus Security Services – CCTV Division (‘us’).


1. PURPOSE

1.1 The installed system is designed to reduce the risk of loss or damage to your premises or, in some cases, to enhance the well-being of those monitored, as far as this can be achieved with such equipment. However, we do not guarantee that the system cannot be removed, tampered with, or disabled by you or any unauthorised person. Should this occur, Janus Security Services – CCTV Division will not be held responsible for any losses incurred.

2. PAYMENT PROCEDURE

2.1 A minimum deposit is required at the time of order, either via phone or email. This amount is detailed in your invoice.
2.2 The balance is payable immediately upon completion of the work on the installation day.
2.3 Accepted payment methods: debit/credit card, bank transfer, or cash. Full payment must be made before the engineer leaves the site. We do not accept cheques.
2.4 Refusal to pay will result in system removal and a charge of our standard installation fee (£199 + VAT). Any additional costs related to debt collection or legal action will also apply.
2.5 Cancellations made beyond the 14-day cooling-off period and within 24 hours of the scheduled installation date will incur a £30 processing fee. The remaining deposit will be refunded in the original payment form.


3. COSTS

3.1 All quotes are valid for 30 days.
3.2 Quoted costs may change under the following conditions:

  • Specification changes.
     
  • Discovery of site conditions not previously disclosed.
     
  • Circumstances requiring additional work such as:
     
    • Engineer re-visits for system reconfiguration.
       
    • Work outside standard installation practices.
       
    • Labour-intensive setups (e.g., camera mounting on trees, cable containment, carpet lifting, etc.).
       
    • Access to high ceilings requiring lifting equipment.
       

Note: Additional charges apply if engineers are unable to access areas essential for the installation, leading to extra cabling or labour. However, no additional charges will be imposed without prior reasonable awareness by the customer.


4. GENERAL

4.1 Janus Security Services – CCTV Division will strive to complete installations promptly but accepts no liability for delays beyond our control.
4.2 We reserve the right to take non-identifying photographs/videos of installations for marketing purposes, including use on our website and social media.
4.3 You must grant full access to your premises for survey, installation, and testing. A reliable power supply must be provided. Delays due to access or power issues may result in additional charges. You must have the authority to permit installation.


5. EQUIPMENT

5.1 Cancellations made within the 14-day cooling-off period will receive a full refund.
5.2 Engineers may conduct pre- and post-installation checks, including photos of completed work.
5.3 Full training is provided upon completion of installation.


6. GUARANTEE / WARRANTY

6.1 We offer a 12-month warranty covering all CCTV and alarm products, including parts, labour, and free callouts for system faults.
6.2 Extended warranties are available after the initial 12 months.
6.3 Customers must report faults to: sales@janussecurityservicesltd.com (update with your actual support email if different).
6.4 Warranty exclusions:

  • User-caused faults or reconfiguration.
     
  • Consumable item failures (e.g., hard drives).
     
  • Third-party product interference.
     
  • Changes by telecoms or internet providers.
     

6.5 If user error causes a fault (e.g., damaged cables), a minimum £100+VAT callout fee applies. Faulty components under warranty are repaired/replaced free of charge.
6.6 After 12 months (without extended warranty), callout and parts will be chargeable, with costs agreed beforehand.


7. REMOTE VIEWING & IT ISSUES

If remote viewing setup cannot be completed during installation due to IT or ISP issues, additional charges will apply for follow-up configuration. Janus Security Services – CCTV Division is not liable for issues caused by changes in routers, ISPs, phones, or OS updates.


8. LIABILITY

8.1 We are not liable for repairs/replacements due to events beyond our control (e.g., fire, surge, flood, misuse).
8.2 We do not guarantee uninterrupted system operation or full security of your premises.
8.3 We are not an insurer and do not warrant total protection of property or contents.
8.4 We are not liable for any loss of earnings or consequential damages due to system faults.
8.5 These terms do not affect your statutory rights under the Sale of Goods Act or Unfair Contract Terms Act.


9. FORCE MAJEURE

Janus Security Services – CCTV Division will not be liable for delays or failures caused by events beyond our control, including but not limited to natural disasters, war, strikes, or government actions.


10. APPLICABLE LAW

This contract is governed by the laws of England and Wales, Scotland, or Northern Ireland, as applicable.

Complaints will be logged and responded to within 7 working days. If more time is needed, we’ll contact you within 14 working days with an update and estimated resolution time.
